PAK TEA HOUSE
A FORUM FOR THE COMMON MEN SHARING IDEAS

PAK TEA HOUSE-AN INSTITUTION IN THE PAST

Pak Tea House was a small old-fashioned crowded restaurant adjacent to YMCA Building, but located alongside on the road leading towards Anarkali/Neela Gumbad which was known for literary discussions by intellectual elites (mostly professors from the English Departments of Government College & Islamia College accom[panied by their few distinguished post-graduate students) when full set of tea was served for 1/4 of a Rupee easily affordable by Teachers of the stature like Professor Asr, Gilani Kamran, and Professor Kalim from GC and men like Professor Eric Cyprian, Professor Sajjad Baqar Rizvi from Islamia College. Halqa-e-Arbab-eZauq met in YMCA once a week, wherein poets of eminence like late Nasir Kazmi and Professor Qayyum Nazar (alongwith other intellectuals mentioned above also attended). Subsequently stalwarts in punjabi Literature such as Late Mr Sharif Kunjahi & Shafqat Tanvir Mirza also laid foundations for literary discussions under the aegis of Punjabi Adbi Sangat. This crowd intermixed & would normally join discussions from one forum to another. Things went on smoothly and men like Habib Jalib & Ustaad Daman also participated. These men used to attend weekly meetings in Halqa once a week where Tea was served on the spot, but on other days when no regular meeting of Hala or Sangat were on, they would assemble informally in the PAK TEA HOUSE.Those were the days when tempo of life wasn't very fast, inflationary spiral had not set in, and people enjoyed leisure-hence these literary activities could prosper. With the passage of time, however, some of these literateur passed away; whereas others suffered physical disabilities due to old age. Besides, the owner of PAK TEA HOUSE closed it for a more profitable venture; hence these acitivities came to a stand still. This forum on internet has been opened for opening the avenues which were closed due to closure of the TEA HOUSE. All positive & proactive people with creative ideas are welcomed to get registered and start sharing their ideas & experiences on this platform. The management of PAK TEA HOUSE have a vision to make it an effective forum. We are thank ful to Mr Jamil Zaidi , our senior advisor , for his active participation.
